Helm Vision Group is an independent private practice offering a full range of Ophthalmology and Optometry services. Our Optometrists specialize in comprehensive eye exams, glasses, and contact fittings. Our Ophthalmologists are experts in LASIK, Cornea transplants, glaucoma treatment, and other complex surgeries. Helm Vision Group has been serving the Santa Clarita community and its vicinity for more than 25 years! We have 3 office locations- 2 in Santa Clarita Valley and 1 in Palmdale. Our home office is located right off the Magic Mountain exit in Valencia, CA. Our office staff is dedicated to serving the vision needs to a diverse patient population, which also include a mix of retail and medical patients. We are currently seeking for an experienced Optometrist for a Per Diem role who can commit to Mondays at our Palmdale office. The individual will deliver high optometric/vision care services and collaborates in a teamwork oriented environment.
Work Availability: Mondays 8:30am - 5:30pm (Palmdale, CA)
Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for evaluating and examining patients, diagnosing eye and vision problems, testing patients' depth and color prescription, and testing patients' ability to coordinate and focus their eyes
Prescribe medications, fit, and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids
Provides treatment of the visual system within the scope of optometric licensure, including writing prescriptions for contact lenses and glasses
Conduct comprehensive eye exams using optometric equipment/instruments and general diagnostic interpretation.
Recommend appropriate patient follow-up and advises on proper eye care techniques
Consults with Ophthalmologist when appropriate
Answer questions and provide recommendations to patients regarding vision and optical issues
Ensures a properly executed patient hand off to Optical or Front Office staff
Direct staff (Ophthalmic Techs) with patient procedures
Promotes patient satisfaction by providing high quality service and care
Timely completes regular and accurate patient medical charting of the treatment and services provided
Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards, and report any unsafe conditions
Adheres to Helm Vision Group’s policies and procedures
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy as per HIPAA guidelines
Other duties may be assigned as required.
Education:
Doctor of Optometry Degree (OD) from an Accredited School of Optometry
Active and Unrestricted California Optometrist License
Qualifications/Skills:
1-3 years related experience
Bilingual- English/Spanish Preferred
Applied understanding of general principles of optometry and best practices for the diagnosis and treatment of eye-related disorders and conditions
Excellent grasp of medical terminology, analyzes and interprets prescriptions
Excellent knowledge of optical devices and their applications
Delivers outstanding customer service through all patient interactions
Strong and effective communication skills both verbal and written
Comfortable with EHR (CompuLink) and Microsoft Office Programs
Demonstrated problem solving skills and multitasking ability
Compliance with HIPAA Regulations
